World War 2/Remembrance Day

We have had a very busy day today learning all about why we hold a Remembrance Day each year and what happened to children during WWII. The children made poppies in class and wore them to our special assembly at 11am where we had a 2 minute silence to remember those who gave their lives during war.
Back in class the children learnt about evacuation and completed a task where they had to pack useful items in a suitcase in order of importance. Most children chose a 'gas mask' as the most important item as they understood it's life-saving abilities however some were hoping to impress the tooth fairy by choosing their toothbrush as the most important thing to pack! 😆

It seems the children have learnt a lot today judging by their comments!
Well done children you looked fabulous today and have worked very hard! 😊🌟
