During the morning, we attended an assembly where we talked about the loss and sacrifice given by many during the Wars and held a minute silence in respect of the fallen. We discussed the symbol of the poppy and how we use it on Remembrance day which is on the 11th of November every year.
We dressed up in typical clothes from that era including soldiers, nurses, evacuee children and land girls.
We learned lots of facts about evacuation and tried to put ourselves into the shoes of those children, thinking about what would be our priorities for packing our tiny suitcases.
In PE we joined forces with 2G and did some country dancing which was popular for children during the War. The children did a fantastic job learning so many moves in a short space of time!
We also made a moving poppy picture using our developing cutting and sticking skills.
What a busy day!
1G what was your favourite part of the day? Can you tell me anything you have learned in the comments of this post?
