This is the class kindness elf. He appears every December to deliver the message of kindness by asking children to take part in small but meaningful tasks which will hopefully spread the Christmas joy! Be sure to ask the children which random act of kindness they have completed each day.

Joining sentences
To improve our writing we are looking at using words such as 'and' , 'with' , 'because' to join two short sentences together. See the children practising this writing skill below when they joined sentence strips together with joining words (also known as conjunctions).
Escaped!
Look what 1G received on Monday morning! π²
We had to abandon our plans and set to work on making some posters to help look for the animals. We thought that using all the information we have learnt so far about animals would be useful to include so that people know what to look out for. When they are finished they will be displayed around school so that we can keep an eye out and hopefully return all the animals safely.
Remember if u see any of these animals lurking around, be sure to contact Mr. Tusk at Blackpool Zoo ππ»π
Here are some of the finished posters already. Can the children tell you what the pink and green highlighters are for?

Xmas decorations appeal
It's that wonderful time of year again and I would really like your help to make 1G look as festive as possible, especially in our upcoming role play area - Santa's workshop. If you have any old Christmas decorations you can spare, we would love to use them in our classroom! Thanks in advance for any donations ππ

Bonfire Recounts π₯π₯
In Literacy this week we have been writing Bonfire night recounts using onomatopoeia words. I am very pleased with the work they produced, here is a selection of a few.
World War 2/Remembrance Day
We have had a very busy day today learning all about why we hold a Remembrance Day each year and what happened to children during WWII. The children made poppies in class and wore them to our special assembly at 11am where we had a 2 minute silence to remember those who gave their lives during war.
Back in class the children learnt about evacuation and completed a task where they had to pack useful items in a suitcase in order of importance. Most children chose a 'gas mask' as the most important item as they understood it's life-saving abilities however some were hoping to impress the tooth fairy by choosing their toothbrush as the most important thing to pack! π
It seems the children have learnt a lot today judging by their comments!

The pictures can be coloured after labelling. Please send it back completed by Monday as children who return it will receive a stamp for their star chart π
Superstar of the week!

Remembrance Day - Friday 11th November
Just a reminder that this Friday is our special Remembrance and WWII day. The children have been asked to dress up in clothes from 1930's-40's and will be learning about different areas of WWII and the reasons why we hold a Remembrance Day on November 11th each year.
Year 1 are going to be looking at the evacuation of children and will be completing activities linked to this on Friday. Photos to follow...
