Year 1 Christmas Party πππ π»
Yesterday we had a lovely Christmas party with year 1. They were all very well behaved and were very gracious in defeat if they didn't win a game. We hope everyone has a Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year!

Look who came to school today!
We had some special visitors in school today - local fire fighters! π₯π·πΌ They were kindly giving up their time to show and tell us about the equipment, clothing and gadgets they use to fight fires nowadays. This is because we have been studying the 'Great Fire of London' in 1666 as part of our history topic and we have been learning about how people used to deal with fires compared to now. They didn't have a fire service or fire fighters back then - just some frantic people throwing buckets of Thames water onto the flames! π¦The following pictures have questions attached - ask your child the questions to see what they have learned today! π
Our recent kindness tasks!
Just some of the daily kindness tasks we have been undertaking at school over the past 2 weeks π
And look out for these in the children's bags tomorrow!

Adding and subtracting games π²
Today we have been playing adding and subtracting dice games to help consolidate our learning. If the children have dice at home, this is really good way to practice their sums! π²π²
Busy elves have been working hard in 1G this week!
The children have been taking it in turns to become Santa's elves for the morning and have been making and wrapping presents for the other children in Santa's workshop. Making a toy from the children's wish lists using classroom objects and crafts required lots of creative thinking and they all tried really hard - especially green group who really got into the role of it! The children will open these presents during the last week and the aim is to learn about the kindness of giving as well as receiving. Don't they look fabulous! ππ
Year 1 Christmas craft afternoon
On Thursday afternoon we had a lovely time in year 1 making lots of Christmassy crafts with the help of our parent volunteers. A big thank you to all who came, we hope you enjoyed it too. Here are some of the photos the children and parents took with our Christmas props!
Superstar of the week π

Our first golden ticket winner!
Well done to our first golden ticket winner this year! Remember to earn a golden ticket you need to read at least 3x a week for ten weeks to earn 10 stickers on your reading chart. Other children are very close to this so keep up the good reading! πππ»

This week 1G have had the pleasure of WILF the attendance teddy as last week we had the best attendance in the infants. During their 'choosing' time, children have been reading Christmas stories with him and he has been playing in Santa's workshop. Keep up the good attendance 1G and hopefully he will visit again soon! ππ»

Our class kindness elf
This is the class kindness elf. He appears every December to deliver the message of kindness by asking children to take part in small but meaningful tasks which will hopefully spread the Christmas joy! Be sure to ask the children which random act of kindness they have completed each day.

Joining sentences
To improve our writing we are looking at using words such as 'and' , 'with' , 'because' to join two short sentences together. See the children practising this writing skill below when they joined sentence strips together with joining words (also known as conjunctions).
Escaped!
Look what 1G received on Monday morning! π²
We had to abandon our plans and set to work on making some posters to help look for the animals. We thought that using all the information we have learnt so far about animals would be useful to include so that people know what to look out for. When they are finished they will be displayed around school so that we can keep an eye out and hopefully return all the animals safely.
Remember if u see any of these animals lurking around, be sure to contact Mr. Tusk at Blackpool Zoo ππ»π
Here are some of the finished posters already. Can the children tell you what the pink and green highlighters are for?
